TIPS FOR Making Pumpkin Pie Spice

  1. Use fresh spices. Check your spices to make sure they are fresh! A good indicator that they are old and stale is to take a pinch of the spice and rub it between your fingertips. If the scent is weak and the flavor is subtle and bland, then it’s probably time to replace it.
  2. Find bargain spices. When in a pinch, look for low-priced spices for a cost-effective way to make spice blends.
  3. Use organic. To follow up on using fresh spices, organic is the best way to ensure you are getting the freshest product, and they have little to no preservatives.
  4. Add additional spice. This is the best classic blend of pumpkin pie spice, but feel free to add some others to the mix. Some flavors that will mix well with this are cardamon, citrus spices like orange or lemon, and chili for a little heat.

  1. thank you for the recipe. I gave it 3 stars because one thing that could be improved is to clearly state what proportions of spices go into the recipe. From the text it seems to imply equal part of each spice, BUT the picture of bowls to mix shows not equal amount of spices.
This creates confusion, makes people do guessing and could be turn-of for otherwise great site.
